Collaborations

LIMUD HELSINKI

Among various international session holders, Valeria has led three sessions at Limud Helsinki 2020:

HEVRUTA BeMUSIKA

Hevruta BeMusika is an artistic performance which combines hevruta methodology with a musical creative process. The performance is the elaboration in music of a discussion over Jewish texts led by the musicians as part of the rehearsals time. Made up by three female professionals bringing their own expertise in the genres of Klezmer, Arabic-Jazz, and Gypsy-Roma music and bringing them together through improvisation and original compositions inspired by the discussion over the texts.

NIGUNIM SINGING SESSION

Jewish tradition is drenched by beautiful melodies (nigunim) matching blessings, psalms, prayers, and songs. In particular, the Chasidic tradition infuses deep spirituality and intense energy within these melodies with the intention of creating a connection between two worlds: the physical and the spiritual. During this session, we will learn some of these melodies. No prior musical knowledge is needed, only your wish to spend a pleasant time joining your voice with the one of others.

PAIDEIA - THE EUROPEAN INSTITUTE FOR JEWISH STUDIES IN SWEDEN

Dedicated to the revival of Jewish culture in Europe, Paideia – The European Institute for Jewish Studies in Sweden, educates leaders for Europe, such as academicians and community activists, in Jewish textual sources which serve as the wellsprings of Jewish and modern civilization. Valeria Conte, teacher and workshop leader at Paideia and at its Folkhögskola, will present an overview of the various programs and bringing her own experience as a graduate from the One Year Jewish Studies Program and Paideia Project-Incubator.
